Chorley 10k 2023
7th May 2023.
It was an early start for a lot of Lions today as it was race day at our local race. The Chorley 10k. Probably our closest 'home' race, it is a good one that is well supported by our members and always ends up being a good day out.
A lot of the committee and other volunteers came down to the stall early to support with setting up and getting race ready for the start. A few nerves, lots of friendly faces, and a lot of coffee consumed.
We had lots of goodies to share with passers by this year;
We were joined by the wonderful Nikki from Ribble Therapy who was there to give free pre and post race massages. I know a lot of people benefitted from these, and it was wonderful to see Nikki at the event!
The Mayor of Chorley came to meet some of our VI (Visually Impaired) runners before the start and to see the incredible work that some of our guides have done and the relationships created guiding these incredible runners, week in, week out.
A huge thank you to the samba band, sambafriq whose presence were certainly welcome and gave us that festival vibe.
The weather stayed dry and the sun was shining. The streets of Chorley were littered with yellow and I'm sure a lot of spectators could #hearusroar
We had lots to celebrate with lots of PBS being smashed out.
It was also so wonderful to have the support from members of the club who weren't running and their cheers were certainly heard from all sides of Astley Park.
We celebrated a fantastic race with a few pints in The Shed in Chorley, after all we had been gifted a bank holiday so it would have been rude not to.
A good day by all, and a well attended race by the club.
